Well, let’s see. It’s been a while since I’ve had time to sit down and write a post for this blog, so I’ll try to catch you all up with what’s been going on over the past month.
Nathan is on the move. He’s not crawling per se. It’s more like worming. Whatever it is, he’s getting really good at it. He can go from one end of the apartment to the other, provided he has a good enough reason to do it. Usually us yelling his name from the living room is enough to get him moving, though. I think the kid’s immune to rug burn; his knees sure are getting leathery from all the scooting.
He’s also really big into solid foods, mostly sweet potatoes, bananas, carrots and apples at the moment, though he’s pretty much graduated into the 4-ounce, second-stage jars of food now, so his options are expanding. He’s tried green beans, rice cereal and even peas — he’s not a fan of any of those yet. Winter squash proved to be a hit, however.
Now if we can just get him to drink more… For some reason, he refuses to drink water, fruit juice or anything else. He’ll take the liquid into his mouth, sometimes, and swallow a little, sometimes. Most times, though, whatever it is winds up dribbling onto his bib. He will, though, swallow liquids when we deposit them into his mouth with a straw and sometimes when we hold a cup up to his mouth, but even those methods are spotty at best.
Other than that, Susan is getting ready to start grad school on Sept. 2, and I’m plugging away at the MSU News Service and attempting to pick up some of the very-few-and-far-between freelance editing jobs floating around Bozeman.
Photos to come soon. We have a whole slate of 7-month photos just waiting to be cropped and edited and uploaded for your viewing pleasure. Look for them in the next week or so.
