Bozeman has been socked with six days of solid rain. Today, it seems a lot of that rain found its way down from the mountains and into the streams running through the city (or the ditches). Several low lying roads and homes flooded today, and we happened to grab this photo of the field across the street from our apartment complex.
If you look at it, you’d think it was just a pond, but what you can’t see is that there’s a heavily-traveled sidewalk and a tiny ditch about 10 inches beneath the water. This flood happens every time the mountains to the south of down get any substantial moisture or see any melting. The city says it’s because the pipe that connects the ditch to a much larger drainage ditch is almost always blocked — and some sort of water rights issues won’t allow them to build it any bigger.
At any rate, I thought you’d all like to see the peculiarity of where we live.

We’ve had our fair share of rain the past week also. No flooding in our neighborhood tho.
